There are many ways to learn a new language. Back in the days when computers and mobile phones weren’t as popular as they are now, people learned by reading, reviewing paper flashcards, taking notes, or listening to the radio.
But these days it’s easy to just download language learning apps and learn anywhere. You may also enroll in a language course, or learn by yourself all through an app in the palm of your hand.
Are there any good apps out there? Enter Wokabulary — an awesome app that aims to help you learn and organize foreign words efficiently. You can build your vocabulary list and review it wherever you are because it works on an iPhone, iPad, or Mac.

What is Wokabulary?
Wokabulary, as the name sounds — vocabulary! It is a flash card language learning app that can help you manage your vocabulary, enable you to do the quiz, and track your progress.
It does not offer any language courses, while it is more focused on helping build your own word list so you can improve at your own pace.
Simply put, whatever the language you are learning, you’ll find Wokabulary super helpful.
How Does Wokabulary Work?
After you install the app on your Mac, it will ask you to add the language you are learning. They support all the languages in the world. So choose the one you are learning. For example, I’m learning Khmer (Cambodian language), so I chose Khmer.
This app is also available for iPad and iPhone, you can decide whether you want to sync with iCloud, so you can learn at the same pace on all your iOS devices.
After set up, you will come to the main interface like this:
1. Build Your Vocabulary
It’s time to build your word list. Add the words you plan to learn.
When you add the words, you are able to add tags, set the level of the word, and put some comments. I recommend adding this information because it helps you find the desired word faster and understand deeper where you are in the learning process.
There are two ways to add words, by typing words one by one or by importing the supported formats: comma-separated .csv/.txt and .wokv files.
2. Take a Quiz
Word is the foundation of any language. We need to learn new words, and also review the old words. After you have your word list, study them and then you can go to the quiz part.
Wokabulary offers two kinds of quizzes, one is Typing Quiz, and the other is Flashcard Quiz.
- Typing Quiz requires you to type the right word in the language you are learning when you see the English word.
- Flashcard Quiz is the English word shows first, and then you flip the card to see the word in another language, then it’s your time to answer whether you know it or not.
In the quiz section, you are also able to set up which group of words you want to take a test. That’s why it’s good to have the tags sorted for the words when you add them. So get the one you want and see how is your new language study.
3. Track Your Progress
Getting to know the performance of our study is important as it reflects whether we are making good progress as well as how much effort we need to master the language.
In the Statistics section, you are able to see your progress in different ways. If you’ve been using this app a bit longer, you can check your growth in 7 days, 30 days, or 12 months.
Watching your growth in the Wokabulary app is really exciting!
4. Quick Search and Smart Filter
On the left side of the main interface, you can find settings for Search and Filters. With smart filters, you can do a fast search, and find out your word quickly.
Once again, it’s good to add tags and level information when you add the word into Wokabulary. This will improve your productivity and help you be more organized.
Price and Platform Compatibility
As of now, Workabulary is only available for macOS and iOS. You can use it on your Mac, iPhone, and iPad. Windows PC is not compatible.

Apps on iOS App Store and Mac APP Store are separate, so yes, we believe you need to purchase both.
