How to Transfer iMovie from Mac to iPhone Camera Roll

There are various ways to transfer an iMovie video from a Mac to an iPhone. You can use email, Airdrop, or third-party services such as iCloud or Dropbox to share your videos.

Hi! I’m Nancy, and I have been creating videos using iMovie for several years. There are a variety of video editing apps available to use on an iPhone.

If you’re interested in importing your videos to your phone, I’ll provide you with step-by-step instructions on how to do it.

Read on to learn more!

How Do I Import iMovie Video to My iPhone?

I will outline two methods for importing an iMovie video from your Mac to your iPhone.

Method #1: Email

To send your iMovie video via email, first click on the Share button and choose the Email option. As iMovie has a recommended 10 MB limit for email attachments, you will need to select a resolution that is below this file size limit.

Once you have selected the desired resolution, click on the Share button and the Mail App will open up. Enter the recipient’s email address and send the email. The recipient can then download the video file onto their iPhone.

Sending videos through email may not be the best option, especially if your iMovie video file exceeds 10 MB. Reducing the video’s resolution to decrease its size will inevitably compromise its quality.

Method #2: Airdrop

After exporting your file on iMovie, it will be saved on your computer. To transfer it to your iPhone, you can utilize Airdrop. To do this, open Airdrop on both your Mac and iPhone and ensure that receiving files from Everyone is enabled.

Next, drag the iMovie video file into Airdrop, and on your iPhone, accept the file. Once the transfer is accepted, the iMovie video file will be imported to your phone.

Where Do Exported iMovie Files Go on iPhone?

After transferring iMovie videos to your iPhone from a Mac, they will be stored in the Photos Library. To locate the transferred video, you can check either the Recently Added folder or the Videos album.

How to Share an iMovie Video That’s Too Big for iPhone?

It is recommended to save your video file in MP4 format instead of MOV. This is because MP4 files are generally more compressed, have smaller sizes than MOV files, and will take up less storage space.

If your iMovie video is too big to be shared directly to your iPhone, there are a few alternatives for transferring the file. You can use a cloud storage service such as iCloud or Dropbox to upload and share the file.

Alternatively, you can utilize a third-party file transfer app such as WeTransfer or Send Anywhere, which allows you to upload the file on your Mac and generate a download link that can be opened on your iPhone.

Final Thoughts

I hope the instructions for transferring videos to an iPhone were easy to follow. With your videos now saved onto your device, you can easily share them on popular platforms like Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok.
