4 Recuva Alternatives for Android

Are you looking for the Android version of Recuva (the free data recovery software), hoping to recover those deleted or lost files on your Android phone or tablet?

Well, the short answer is: there isn’t an Android version of Recuva, yet. And the maker of Recuva (formerly Piriform) doesn’t seem to launch Recuva for Android.

Recuva for Android

If you have seen other websites or advertisements claiming to provide an Android version of Recuva for you to download, be aware that the claim is fake or misleading.

I really like the PC version of Recuva, its clean UI/UX design, and powerful features to help recover accidentally deleted files. More importantly, it’s free.

However, Recuva is only available for Windows (not for Mac). But fortunately, there are several alternatives that are good enough to serve what Recuva can do.

In this article, we will show a few of them along with how to use them.

Recuva for Android?

As I said, Recuva is only available to download and use on a PC. Here’s what its setup interface looks like:

4 Great Recuva Alternatives for Android Data Recovery

Please note that some of the Android data recovery apps listed below are not freeware, some provide free trials that allow you to scan for lost files, but eventually, you’ll need to pay to recover your files.

1. Stellar Data Recovery for Android

Stellar is a renowned company that makes a range of data recovery-related products. Stellar Data Recovery for Android is able to recover contacts, messages, call history, WhatsApp chats, photos, and videos from any Android device (phones and tablets). Supported brands include Samsung, Google, LG, Huawei, Lenovo, etc.

2. dr.fone for Android

What we like most about dr. fone is its clean user interface, which reduces the learning curve for how to use the program.

You don’t need much tech know-how, all you have to do is follow the step-by-step instructions as shown on the software. dr. fone can recover your lost photos, videos, SMS, and contacts from almost any Android device.

You can preview lost files during the scanning process which saves you time to find out which files are actually what you wanted to bring back.

Furthermore, the latest version of dr. fone can even allow you to transfer any files between your Android devices and a computer. Simply put, dr. fone is more than just an Android data recovery program, it’s an all-in-one Android manager.

3. PhoneRescue for Android

Unlike dr. fone which can run on your Android phone, PhoneRescue will first configure an Android recovery environment for you on your laptop.

I am on a Windows PC, so I downloaded a PC version and then after connecting your phone to the PC, I could start recovering the lost files.

Although the recovery feature might seem a bit complicated, PhoneRescue is a powerful tool that can help you get back those important files you deleted or lost.

4. EaseUS MobiSaver for Android

MobiSaver is another powerful recovery app that can help you retrieve accidentally deleted photos, pictures, images, videos, and frequent contacts from both your Android phone’s internal memory and external SD card.

Its WhatsApp chat recovery feature is very useful if you have the app on your phone to chat with friends but lose some chat history due to accidental deletion or backup failure.

Final Thoughts

We all don’t want to lose important files, especially precious photos, and messages on our Android phones or tablets.

These days the value of the data is much higher than the phone or device itself. So make sure you always have at least one solid backup of your phone data.

This article from Google is definitely a must-read. You can back up any data and settings from your Android phone to your Google Account, and restore the content easily in any case.

Your last option is Android data recovery software. Recuva is a famous free data recovery program but it’s only available for the Windows operating system.

Either way, I hope you find this article helpful. If you discover any other Recuva alternative for Android devices, please leave a comment and let us know.

Problem with recuva and stellar is that it cannot see any internal memory on mobile phones, like Huawei p20 pro. Found no solutions or apps.

The others cost money, while not seeming to recover much if any, dr fone lets you see what it might recover, which was very limited.

This was a situation where 400 mp3 recordings were deleted by accident, and then immediately tried to recover them.
