CCleaner was a great cleaning program for PC and Mac. It was totally free to download and use. However, after its maker Piriform was acquired by Avast several years ago, things seem to start to change.
The program has been slowly branded as a freemium product, instead of a free tool that was downloaded and used by millions of users (mostly PC users, some Mac users).
For example, the commercial intrusive pop-up ads they launched not long ago during the summer holidays.
Anyway, if you decide to get rid of CCleaner, here’s a step-by-step tutorial for you to follow. Both Windows and macOS versions are covered.

How to Uninstall CCleaner on PC (Windows)
There are two ways to uninstall the program if you are on a Windows PC.
Method 1: Uninstall CCleaner in Control Panel
Step 1: Right-click This PC and click Properties to open the Control Panel.
Step 2: Click Control Panel Home on the top left corner.
Step 3: Click Uninstall a program under the Programs.
Step 4: Find CCleaner in the list, select the program, and then click Uninstall/Change button.
If you can’t find CCleaner on the list, you can also search CCleaner in the top right corner to find the software.
Step 5: Once you click Uninstall/Change button, a confirmation dialog box appears on your computer screen. Hit the Yes button to continue.
Step 6: Then you are able to open the uninstall program to delete CCleaner from your computer. Click Next to proceed.
Step 7: Hit Finish and you’re all set.
Method 2: Uninstall CCleaner in Apps & Features
Step 1: Press the Windows key on your keyboard or click the Windows icon on the lower-left corner and then click the Gear icon to open the Windows Settings.
Step 2: After you open the Windows Settings, select Apps on the dashboard.
Step 3: From the Apps & features tab on the left pane, find CCleaner on the right-hand side and click Uninstall button.
Again, if you can’t locate CCleaner in the list, you can also search CCleaner in the search bar on the right panel.
Step 4: Click the Uninstall button, a confirmation dialog box will also appear on your computer screen. Just hit the Yes button.
Step 5: Hit Next and then Finish and you will delete CCleaner from your computer.
That’s it, pretty easy, right?
How to Uninstall CCleaner on Mac
Deleting CCleaner on macOS is even simpler than doing that on Windows. Only two steps are needed and you’re good to go.
Step 1: On your Mac. Open Finder, then select Applications. There, locate the CCleaner app.
You can also do a quick search to find CCleaner, from the Search Bar in the top right corner.
Step 2: Right-click on the CCleaner app icon, and the Move to Trash option.
That’s it. Now you’ve successfully removed CCleaner from your Mac. You may go to Trash and delete the app there as well if you want to free up a little bit of storage for your computer.
