How to Hide or Unhide a Song on Spotify

To reveal a hidden song on Spotify, simply tap on the three-dot icon next to the song and select “Hidden”. This will restore the song’s visibility and make it available in your playlists and library once again.

Hello there! I’m Nancy, a longtime Spotify user who loves using the app on my mobile phone. One of the coolest features I’ve discovered is the ability to hide songs. Today, I’d like to share with you a quick guide on how to unhide a song effortlessly.

Let’s get started!

Steps to Hide and Unhide Songs on Spotify

You can hide and unhide a song on Spotify with just a few clicks. Here’s how to do it on Spotify mobile and on the desktop app.

Spotify Mobile

To get started, launch the Spotify mobile app. Pick the song you wish to hide and tap the three-dot icon located on the right side. A menu will appear, and you can select the “Hide this song” option. That song will now appear grayed out and a hidden icon will be displayed next to it.

To unhide the song, just click on the hidden icon or the three-dot icon and tap on the “Hidden” option.

Spotify Desktop App

When using the Spotify desktop app or web version, you won’t find a direct option to hide or unhide a song by clicking the three-dot icon next to it. Instead, it will display a different dropdown menu.

Nevertheless, you do have the option to remove a song from one of your playlists. Simply select the song, click on the three-dot icon, and you will be presented with the choice to remove the song from your Liked Songs or the specific playlist it belongs to.

Why Can’t I Unhide a Song on Spotify?

As previously mentioned, hiding songs is a feature available on the Spotify mobile app and isn’t currently available on the Spotify desktop versions. You should be able to unhide a song if it has been previously hidden.

Spotify provides a user-friendly and effortless method to hide and unhide songs. Choosing to temporarily hide a song is the simplest approach, avoiding the need to skip it every time. In playlists, hidden songs are automatically skipped.

Why Do Spotify Hidden Songs Still Play?

When you choose to hide a song on the Spotify mobile app, it’s important to note that this action won’t apply to the desktop app versions. Consequently, the hidden song can still be played and won’t appear grayed out in the desktop app.

Since there is no way around this disparity between the mobile and desktop apps, the best approach to prevent the song from playing is to stick to the mobile app version when you want to avoid hearing a specific song.

Final Thoughts

Sometimes, you might not feel like listening to a particular song, so you can hide it on the Spotify mobile app. The best part is, it’s not a permanent decision. If you change your mind later, you can easily unhide the song and enjoy it again. It would be great if Spotify adds this feature to their desktop app in the future, making it even more convenient for all users across all platforms.
