How to Print from Canva

To print your designs from Canva, start by downloading the files to your computer or device. Once downloaded, you can choose to print them using your own home printer, a printing service, or take advantage of the Canva Print service for professional printing.

Hi! I’m Nancy and I’ve been using Canva for years to create awesome graphics and videos for all sorts of projects. It’s seriously one of the easiest graphic design tools out there, and it keeps getting better.

In this article, I’ll walk you through the process of printing your Canva designs at home, and I’ll share some tips to help you get the best print quality.

Let’s dive in!

Detailed Guide to Printing a Canva Design (Web App)

Just follow the step-by-step guide below, you are all set.

Step 1: Prepare Your Design for Printing

Before you hit that print button, there are a few important things to keep in mind for the highest quality results.

First off, take a good look at the images you’ve uploaded in your design. Make sure they have a resolution of 300 dpi, which is the recommended image resolution for print. This will ensure your images come out sharp and clear, without any pixelation. Also take a moment to double-check the spelling and grammar of your text.

Next, take a good look at your design zoomed in at 100%. Check the font size and make sure it’s not too small or too big. Try to choose a font that’s easy to read because sometimes fonts that look nice on the screen can be hard to read when printed.

Finally, enable margins and bleed. The margin lines make sure nothing important gets chopped off during printing, and the bleed lines ensure that when you print to the edge of the paper, there won’t be any white edges showing up. You can enable both of these options in the View Settings tab under the File menu.

Step 2: Download Your Canva Design

When using Canva, you won’t find a direct “print” button. Instead, you’ll need to first download your Canva design as a file.

To get started, click on the Share button in the editor menu and select Download. In the file types available, opt for PDF Print. This format is specifically designed for printing and ensures that your design retains its high-resolution images, fonts, and colors. PDF files are compatible with most printers and are widely supported by professional printing services.

Next, check the Crop marks and bleed box. This will include crop marks in your downloaded file, indicating where to trim the paper for a clean finish.

Step 3: Choose a Color Profile

The final step before downloading your design is to choose between the color profiles RBG or CMKY. Canva recommends going with the CMYK color profile for printing because it accurately represents colors and ensures consistent results every single time.

However, CMYK is available for Canva Pro users only. So, if you’re using the free version, the default color profile is RGB.

Step 4: Print Your Design

You can easily print your Canva designs for free if you have a printer at home. However, if you need a larger quantity of copies, specific paper, or vibrant colors, it might be worth heading to your local print shop or exploring other printing services. They can cater to your specific requirements and ensure you get the perfect prints for your needs.

To print your design from home, follow these simple steps:

  • Open the PDF Print file using any application that can view PDFs.
  • Locate the Print option or press Command +P or ⌘ P on your keyboard to access the print view.
  • From there, choose your personal printer’s model from the printer options.

Take a moment to review your printer settings to make sure everything is in order. To ensure your design prints at the correct size, set the Scale to 100%. Once you’ve double-checked everything, hit that Print button and let the magic happen!

How to Print from the Canva Mobile App

Printing from the Canva mobile app is pretty similar to the web app. Here’s what to do:

First, export your design as a PDF file. If your design has multiple pages, pick the specific pages you want and hit that Download button.

Once the download is finished, you’ll have the option to save or share your design. In case you don’t see this option, don’t worry! You can find your design in the photo gallery of your device.

Once you’ve saved the file on your phone, open it up in your photo gallery and press the Print button. Make sure your printer and phone is connected to the same Wi-fi network. Then select the wireless printer, adjust the print settings to your liking, and then click Print.

Can I Order Prints From Canva?

Canva Print can print your designs for you and ship them to your door. Here’s how it works: click on the Print your design option under the Share button. From there, you’ll see a range of print specifications to choose from, such as flyers, business cards, stickers, and notebooks.

Once you’ve selected a product, you’ll see customization options, including printing preferences, quantity, and pricing. When you’re ready, hit that checkout button, and fill in your shipping and payment details to confirm your order.

After placing your order, you can easily keep track of its progress by checking the order status in your Canva account. Just head over to the Purchase History Tab, and you’ll find all the information you need.
