  • Designers can also utilize keyboard shortcuts that will outline text super quickly.

Why Should I Outline Text?

If you are curious as to why you should outline text in a project, you aren’t alone! An outlined piece of text is essentially a vector shape that is created by tracing it. You may need to do this if you are using a font that is not widely utilized and wants to ensure that it remains consistent when sharing your file.

Another benefit to creating outlined text is that it can be scaled without jeopardizing image quality, which is great when you want to print your projects. However, it is important to note that when text is converted to an outline, editing/changing font size is not possible.

If you would like to change the color or other properties of your text, while you are in the Type tool, another toolbox will appear on the side of your screen. Here you can change the color of the font, size, opacity, and overall style of your text.

Step 3: Once you have text in your project, use the select tool (arrow) from the main toolbox and select the font you want to outline.

Step 4: Navigate to the top toolbar and select Type. There will be a dropdown menu where you will see the option to Create Outlines
