PDF files are convenient to view and share, but they are difficult to handle because they are essentially images. Thanks to desktop software and online conversion services, you are able to make PDFs editable in many ways. For example, PDF editing software allows you to directly edit elements on a PDF file; you can also use an online conversion tool to transform PDFs into Word documents first and then use a word processor to make desired changes.
But, what if you are on an iPhone and want to make changes to a PDF file your colleagues or friends sent to you? That’s the moment you’ll need a PDF to Word converter app like this one offered by Cometdocs.
What is Cometdocs PDF to Word App?
It is a productivity tool designed to convert PDFs into editable Microsoft Word documents on mobile devices like iPhones, iPads, and Android phones or tablets. Cometdocs claims the app can import PDFs from Gmail, Dropbox, Google Drive, and OneDrive.
The latest iOS version is 3.5. The app requires iOS 8.1 or later and is compatible with iPhones, iPads, and iPod touches. It’s localized in English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, and Spanish.
Please note: the app is free to get via App Store, with in-app purchase options (we’ll cover them in the tutorial below).
Installing Cometdocs PDF to Word App to iPhone
First of all, you’ll need to open the App Store and search for “Cometdocs,” the first result (see the screenshot on the left) should be its PDF to Word converter app. Alternatively, you can visit this iTunes link, and it will direct you to the download page.
Once you’ve installed it on your iPhone. Open the app, it will ask you permission for notifications (screenshot in the middle), you can either select “Don’t Allow” or “Allow.” On the top right, click “Options,” this will bring a dropdown (screenshot on the right) that lets you contact support, rate the app, manage linked services or in-app purchases, etc.
The key feature is this “Convert File From,” with two sub-options for your choice.
- Convert File from Your Phone — free, but there is a time delay in conversion if you stick to the free version. The screenshot below (the one on the left) shows you how to upload a PDF file to the Cometdocs app.
- Convert File from Purchase Linked Services — paid ($9.99), you can use this feature to directly convert PDF files from Gmail, Google Drive, Dropbox, Box, and OneDrive.
