How to Recover Deleted Photos, Videos, Music

Preparation: Connect the device where your deleted photos located. If you are using an external storage media such as a memory card, USB flash drive etc, connect it to your computer first of all and it should appear as “Removable Disk Drive” under “My Computer”. **Please note: the tutorial below is based on Windows PC, for Mac OS X users, go to Photo Recovery Mac for more info.

STEP 1: Download and install the program on your computer. Open the software, choose the drive (highlight it) you want to retrieve photos from. Then click Next.


STEP 2: Now it will start to scan the selected drive to seek for recoverable photos. Be patient!


STEP 3: After a while when the scan is over, there will be a lot of items found and you can preview them on the program interface. Then click Recover button to get them alive.

 

 

If you are using Stellar Photo Recovery...



STEP 1: Download and install the photo recovery software on your computer. Open the software, you’ll see main interface like below. Click 'Recover Photo, Audio & Video' icon or the button to continue.

STEP 2: Then please choose the drive (highlight it) you want to retrieve photos and media files from. Note: here you also have the option of 'Advance Scan' that enables you to customize the recovery on the basis of file types. Select the desired file types for recovery and click 'Start Scan'.

STEP 3: Now the program will start to scan selected drive. The found files will be listed in a tree view on the left panel. When the process is complete, operate through the directory tree on the left part and preview those pictures, even videos and music to evaluate the quality. After that, click the rotating button Recover.

 

Kind Tips

  • Before you use the photo recovery software, you should stop any activity on the storage device. Do not save more files or edit more data to the source drive.
  • If the above photo recovery tools have found your lost photos, videos or music in the scanning process, it is highly recommended NOT to run any other applications or edit any data on the drive where your deleted photos located.
  • You’d better save the recovered photos, movies or audio to another drive instead of the source drive.

All these are to make sure your deleted files will not be overwritten.
